Dear Friends of 5A,

I received this email from an unknown person in the class saying that I cannot scold him/her in class.

I wish to open up this matter to for your discussion. What are your views? Can a teacher scold a pupil when he/she is

in wrong? Or do you also feel that teachers do not have a the right to scold pupils. If teachers do not reprimand

pupils in school, then who will?

Please give me your opinions.

I think the teacher have him/her right to scold the student if they are wrong.
If that person think that you as a teacher cannot scold him he/she is wrong.......

I THINK TEACHERS SHOULD SCOLD ONLY WHEN THEY ARE NAUGHTY.

I also think that when a student/pupil does wrong,the teachers are allowded to scold them.because we need to let them know what are the wrong and correct things to do..but if the student think that he/she shouldn't be scolded...i think that it is because he don't like people to scold him?I believe that everyone doesn't like to be scolded..Thats what i think.

Well if Ghim Moh is our second school that means that our teachers are our second parents or somthing like that anyway.But of course the teachers must have a reason to why they scolded that person.But if the teacher scolded unessercerily thats not fair.

I think that you should scold us when we do wrong things so that we will not repeat them again.If not we will keep repeating our mistakes and we will be a bad people in the future..

when we are wrong the teacher will reprimand us but they reprimand us for our own good they reprimand us to let us learn from our mistakes.I think the person which send the mail should reconsider the words he said.

u shouldnt scold them if u dunno wat happen everytime u scold us when u dun even know wat happen jus like on tuesday u only scodl teh boys the girls also run infront of u we tell u, u still scold us somemore everyteim the girls make us we didnt tell u then we make them back u scold us

If we are wrong,I think the teachers have the right to scold us because we havee done something wrong.Although,the teachers should not scold us when we are not wrong!Sometimes the teachers scold us when it is not us i think thats unfair!Sometimes the teachers must be nice to us too, if we had done something wrong,the teachers will tell us nicely.If we did that again,they can scold or punish us.It is not like everyone is perfect,nobody is perfect.So,I think the person has to think again and again for the letter he/she should know that nobody is perfect.He/she should not jump into conclusions before he/she started to think that teachers are very mean....

I think teachers should have the rights to scold a student because it is for there own good or for them to learn from their mistakes if not they will not know right from wrong and will make the same mistakes again.

Hi everone again i think the teachers have the right to scold students , but in a soft apporch because if the teacher scold the student to louldy , the student sometimes will talk back , so if we use the soft apporch , the student might listen . But if they are the uncontrolleble one you might want to use a loulder apporch because soft apporch might not work even if speak to then nicely.

Teachers have the right to scold us. If did something wrong in school and your teachers din't correct you and you didn't tell your parents when you go home who is going to correct your mistake. You might have that bad habit forever.

You should scold the person when he/she has done something wrong. nobody in the world is correct, sometimes he/she is wrong.

I think the teachers can scold because it is the only way that he or she can learn.If you don't scold them they will keep misbehaving.And when someone never pass up he/she'homework they will keep the homework like forever.But do not scold that anybody first is u don't know anything about it.

i say that you should.you should because if you don't,they wont listen.if they had done somethings that they should not be doing.you'll have the right to.

teacher do have the right to scold us when we are in wrong

and mother looked at this and said"teachers do have the right so scold us but do not use force"

but some teachers just scold us when we did nothing wrong

and some teachers scold us but in a nice way.we also cannot take advantage of the teacher that does not scold us(ms woon ect.)

I think that teachers scold the students is right because if the teachers don't scold the children,they will never learn what is the good things and bad things.But the teachers cannot scold too much to that child or else he will think that you hate him and this will hurt his FEELINGS!!!

I think that it is not good to scold someone infront of the class.The person who get scolded who felt very embarrassed,and it will hurt the person heart so i think it is not right to scold someone infront of the class.That my comment!!

i can tell you that how because i learnt this from my father.if you scold us they might change.if you donot scold us ,mr kannan will sold us and we will learn a lesson

you should scold he/she is done smoething wrong.if you scould him maybe you are wrong or he is wrong.

I do not think that you should scold us because it is a reliable sugestion. Please think of other way to let them learn their lesson

The teacher must first give them a stern warning. If the student still repeat the same mistake, he has the right to punish them. We must also put ourself in our teacher position, as it not easy to be a teacher.He has to discpline and coach us in our study. One teacher has to deal with 32 students !! Tough job! Thus, let us lighten our teaher burden by following instruction !! So our time will not be wasted. Let corporate with our teacher.

This is true. Being a teacher myself I can say that I can't help feeling sad every time I scold harshly, EVEN WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT way to correct a student. It IS sometimes necessary to scold with a louder voice, because some students don't take learning seriously. And then they need the teacher to get their attention and to see how serious the situation is. But loud scolding should be the LAST RESORT because a harsh approach makes someone angry instead of changing his ways (see Proverbs 15:1). Sometimes a student makes a joke out of his failure, because it is difficult for him or her to succeed in his or her studies (see Proverbs 14:13)? Some students like to be seen by their classmates as the "superstar" who can turn the laughter on the teacher. But in the end, the students failure is no laughing matter. So teachers should encourage students all the time.

A doctor only hurts his patient when he has to. It is always for the patients health. Students should try to be like a doctors patient and teachers should remember to act as carefully as a doctor does when he is operating on a patient.

If you have ever been operated on by a doctor, you will know that TRUST is a big part of the story.

Teachers and students are human. And anyone can make a mistake. What is important is that even a teacher should not be afraid to say "sorry" sometimes. Most importantly, we have to start again the next time. And we should do it a bit differently the next time so that we can get better.

But the best is not to scold or punish students in front of the class because some of his/her friends will make fun of them and he/her will feel upset , he/her will never pay attention in class.
